IPad- Too Much Hype

I don't have an IPad nor do I want one. IPad is a larger version of the ITouch model. Although the ITouch/IPhone is amazing, let's really look at these two things. The system does not allow the playing of Adobe Flash, which is in at least 70% of the internet. "Flash" is basically used as a tool on the internet to increase the visual aspects of something with great transitions and a free range of animation. In some case flash is used to embed videos or play online games with. The only thing that really separates the IPad from the IPhone is, obviously, the size. The IPad is larger which, fairly enough, leaves room for better quality movies and videos. The IPad would also be a great tool to use for future gaming as well. What upsets me is that the IPad has the OS of an IPhone and not Leopard or Snow Leopard. This actually dibilitates the IPad because it's less like a smaller computer and more like a larger IPhone. If you look at it this way then the "portability" factor actually goes down because, obviously, the IPhone is smaller than the IPad. Had the IPad had the Leopard OS, this would have improved the UI for a model with that kind of size. I will say that the IPad has a lot of potential in the gaming, movie watching, and "Kindle" realms; an experience of either one of those categories on the IPad has the potential to be amazing. This is not a revolutionary item and there is too much hype about this IPad. It is a mediocre launch as compared to the launch of the IPhone. Wi-Fi and 3G (which you have to pay for) models for the IPad...where have we heard that before?

Well you gotta know, Flash is a rapist. which is why HTML5 exists. With YouTube and Apple, HTML5 could knock flash into extinction. YouTube already has an HTML5 Player in the beta "TestTube" ( youtube.com/testtube ), and 4.0 and the iPad will make more of a use HTML5.

There was an article in USA Today, however, that put forth some ideas about special applications the IPad could be used for. One example is Hotels could use these with their concierge service, rent them out to their guests for room service, around the pool area and general convenience. This is an amazing idea and something I could see the IPad being used for. Everyday life, however, not so much.

I agree that an IPad is something different from an IPhone. I don't however believe that it is worth $500 or $600 and then $30 a month. It's not THAT dissimilar from an IPhone.

I completely agree with the article. Don't plan on getting an iPad. Notice how the first week it came out, everyone was all excited and couldn't stop talking about , and then a week later; everyone is back to their iPhone's and iPod's!

If you have ever held the iPad in your hands it's not like a big iPod touch it's a incredible device and it will just get better with iPhone OS 4; however, I would like to have the option the have Mac OS X.
