We're proud and excited to announce today's release of Theme Builder 2.1 with so many additions and upgrades. Our previous two week beta period has been quite a success, and we thank you all who contributed.

So what's all in this release?

Retina + iPad: You can now theme your iPhone 4 or iPod touch 4 and take advantage of their gorgeous, HD Retina displays. Not only are we adding these devices, but both iPad 1 and iPad 2 are also now supported.

Double-Sizing: Use the new 2x button to see Retina display-enabled and iPad HD themes full size. You'll see just how truly finely-detailed and beautiful HD themes can be. Now available on theme view pages and on the Theme Builder.

New Add Icon: Change the icons of thousands of apps with just a few keyboard taps. We'll find the app you're looking for and automatically match it up with its ID -- this way, your icons will work internationally and in all languages.

Compatibility: Add your devices to your account with My Devices, and instantly see what themes on the site work with your specific device and generation. Link devices to your account either manually or by signing into the CodeThemed app (which adds them automatically).

New presets: We've worked with designers to provide new HD presets for icons, docks, and wallpapers. Use them in your Retina and iPad themes.

Stay tuned, we already have more updates and features coming to the site which will be released soon! More details on that will be announced later. Follow us on Twitter, and Like us on Facebook for instant updates.

We'll soon be hitting 100,000 users since our original launch in April 2010. We'd like to thank you guys greatly for the support you continue to give and for helping us build this community.

We're proud to announce the official addition of three new devices to CodeThemed -- iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, and iPad. They're coming to the next Theme Builder update, v2.1.

What does this mean?
CodeThemed now fully supports the creation, previewing, and downloading of HD themes for both the iPad's large screen size and the Retina display (Apple's term for a high quality display, which makes themes look stunning).

What changes have been made to the Theme Builder?
The first thing you'll notice in Theme Builder 2.1 is our new device selection box. When you visit the Builder, you're prompted to choose which device this theme is intended for, and Retina mode (for the Retina display). Hit OK, and you're ready to begin as usual.

Also, we're providing new, HD preset images courtesy of some great designers in the community. HD presets are always located at the top of the list as seen below.

But, isn't the iPad's screen like, huge? How will I preview themes?
Great question! We've created a great solution for that, and we call it Double Sizing. When viewing any themes that are made for the Retina display or the iPad, you'll notice a new 2x button on the upper-right corner of the emulator. Clicking 2x will open your theme full screen, so you can see every fine detail.

The final major change you'll notice is our new Add Icon system. We've officially moved from a legacy method of theming icons to using Bundle IDs instead. This allows your themes to work in multiple languages all around the world, and of course, use theme HD images. To add new icons to theme, you'll simply type in the name of the app and we'll try to find a match. Click on a result to add it to your Home Screen, and continue theming normally.

Designers! This means you no longer have to worry about finding Bundle IDs for tons of apps -- we're managing that for you. Although our ID database isn't perfectly accurate nor complete, we'll continue improving it with your feedback.

What's this about iPod touch support? Haven't you always had it?
Indeed, the iPod touch has always been supported. Although, when Theme Builder 2.0 launched in October last year, we had left out the ability to create themes specifically for that device. In this update, creating themes focused on iPod touch (all generations, not just 4th generation) is again possible.

So that's Retina + iPad. It's all coming together on Tuesday, March 15, so get your devices ready! We sincerely thank you for being such a great community, and we're excited for what comes next.

We have been busy working during the past two weeks, and have now released the first update to Theme Builder 2 -- v2.0.1. This updates includes features that didn't make it to the version 2.0.0 launch and bug fixes reported by users with the Feedback tab.

(It should be noted that you can see the latest version of the builder at any time by looking at the bottom right corner of the page. Clicking on the version number allows you to see any changes in that version.)

You can see the changes in this update here.

This update wasn't exactly an easy one, which is why it took longer than we intended it to. We rewrote the saving, downloading, screenshotting, and some of the transferring system completely to fit the new features and for a more robust and simple architecture.

In Save Changes, we took a few steps to improve stability and response time. We implemented a new method of storing data which analyzes and progressively creates a WinterBoard theme as you build one on the builder, and an automatic system that can detect what you've changed each time you save. Combining both of these systems allows themes to save much faster than before.

Because saving automatically creates and stores a finished theme now, downloading was a fairly simple process. To improve it just a bit, we added support for RAR archives which wasn't possible in v1. A screenshot of the theme is also included in each archive downloaded.

You may have noticed that theme display pages around the site have been tweaked a little. We replaced our 5-star rating system for an easier and more obvious thumbs up or down system. We noticed that not many users were using the 5-star system, so we believe this will increase user voting activity.

We are now working on Retina display support and Extras, but do not have an estimation of when these will be finished. We do highly appreciate your patience. Whenever we do have an estimation, it will be posted on our Twitter account, so please do not ask us when these features will be available.

We hope you all enjoy the new abilities, and as always, let us know any bugs or ideas with the Feedback tab on the right or with the Contact page at the top.

Also: We are going to be submitting a free update to our Cydia application which fixes any crashing or Error Code issues. Expect it to be available some time over the next couple of days.

We're revolutionizing theme building. Again. On 10/10/10, CodeThemed v2.0 will arrive with all-new customizing capabilities. It's how we packed everything you 25,000+ users have asked us for — into a single, easy-to-use, online theme creator. It solves world hunger. Well, maybe not yet.

Ever since the launch of CodeThemed on April 17th, we've been blown away by all of the ideas and requests we've received from you guys. But, we then realized that there was no way our previous Theme Builder was going to be able to fit all of these features.

Starting from the ground up, we completely recoded and redesigned the Theme Builder with simplicity, expandability, and small size in mind. And, when you see this update, you'll notice how many problems it solves in productivity. You don't need a large screen size to view the entire builder. We've minimized the number of mouse movements you need to complete a theme. And, of course, we still managed to integrate four times the features our previous builder had.

Overall, we think that theming is going to take a few steps forward with this release, and are very excited to be able to announce that it will be available on Sunday, October 10th (10/10/10) at 10:00AM Pacific Daylight Time. CodeThemed version 1's site will also be shut down from October 3rd until the 10th, while we upgrade servers and begin to put the new Builder in place.

What can you do to prepare? First, make sure you're using the latest version of a good browser. We're supporting Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari in this release. Second, be sure to share your excitement with your friends, over your favorite social networks. And finally third:

Prepare for awesomeness.
